Astral Drive Elementary School We Act Art Auction

Inspired by an art lesson on the famous painter Jackson Pollock from the United States, 6 Englehutt splashed and splattered paint across the canvas and the floor to create this one of a kind painting. The painting was completed on a 36x48” canvas using acrylic paint with all 25 students taking part. As Jackson Pollock frequently named his paintings with numbers, this painting is also named with numbers and represents the number of students in the class.

Grade 5 Grant have created this painting on a 22x28” canvas with acrylic paint. Inspired by the local company East Coast Lifestyle, they have created their very own version of the anchor and have shown us what ties most of this class together...the trend of today can be the art of tomorrow.

With the assistance of students from Grade 6 Englehutt, P/1 Gllis has created their very own Jackson Pollock inspired painting. The expression on these little students' faces when they were told they were allowed to spatter paint all over the canvas was the best part of the creation. The painting has been created on a 24x30" canvas using acrylic paint.

This whimsical tree has branches that are adorned with colourful circles and move through the colour wheel as you go from one side of the tree to the other. The details within the circles are so incredibly detailed and would brighten anyone’s home. Inukshuks are monuments made of unworked stones and are used by the Inuit for communication and survival. 5/6 Pottinger wanted to try something different for their canvas this year and after attempting one idea that didn't quite pan out for their canvas, they decided to use a combination of puff paint and spray paint to create this beautiful masterpiece on a 30x40" canvas. Grade 1/2 Irwin completed study of line in their Visual Arts class. They discussed various types of lines: wavy, straight, curved, zig zag etc. and then took their lines “for a walk”. Each student was given his or her own rectangular space to fill with a line design on the 30x40”canvas using acrylic paint.  As a class, students decided to use the primary colours and painted between the lines.
